Wanhai container ship Kaohsiung Port was hit!

It is reported that on August 4, local time, a strong storm struck Kaohsiung. A dry bulk vessel named CHINA STEEL GROWTH broke away from the mooring at a pier in Kaohsiung Port and drifted backwards . The container ship WAN HAI 162 (Wanhai Qichun) collided.

According to Taiwan media reports, Sun Weixuan, Director of Port Affairs of the Kaohsiung Port Branch of the Taiwan Port Corporation, said that due to the impact of the typhoon’s peripheral circulation, at about 0400 on the 4th, the cargo ship of the Taiwan Sinosteel company at Kaohsiung Port No. 61 and No. 62 buoys suddenly disconnected. ;

Floating about 300 meters in the port, it crashed into a container ship named WAN HAI 162, which was parked at Pier 63 of Kaohsiung Port.

Both ships were damaged. Wan Hai’s container hull was smashed into some dents, and the crane working on the side was also touched and damaged, causing sparks from scratches. Fortunately, the people on both ships were safe.

Sun Weixuan said that there was one cable of the long-wheeler, which was disconnected in the wind and rain that day, and the hull floated. The other four cables were also disconnected. The ship floated without power. The crew immediately notified the monitoring center and the tugboat in the port area was reported to be dispatched immediately.

But when the tug rushed to the growth wheel, the growth wheel had collided with the Qichun ship parked at Pier 63. The tugboat gradually pushed the growth wheel away, and at 5 or 6 in the morning, it pushed the growth wheel back to its original pontoon position. The cable is tied up.

Upon preliminary inspection of the Qichun Ferry, the area where it was hit was a little dented, and the bridge crane was also a little damaged. The crew on the two ships was much safer. As for compensation, the Ferry and Qichun would negotiate and coordinate.
